What I’m Watching

Ok, after the Spider Man rant the other day I know some of you are going to be going “You’ve got to be kidding!”

But here goes, here is what’s in my DVD Player now:

Shaun of the Dead

I love this movie. This has to be one of my all time favorites. I saw it a while back and thought it was good, so I bought it, and I haven’t laughed that hard in a while. The whole comedy around the zombie invasion is funny to me. It’s also funny to see several of the British stars in it. Shaun’s mother played in the new Dr. Who as the Prime Minister (after the Aliens on the Thames). Bill Nightly, who’s been in a ton of things, Love Actually, Underworld, Pirates of the Caribbean. And many many more! If you haven’t seen it and Zombie movies don’t get you go get it.

Slither

Ok, This movie, I had hoped for some 80’s cheesy disaster flick, like Night of the Comet and other 80’s movies but no. This also started Nathan Filllion, who played Captain Malcolm Reynolds. Who kid a kick ass job in that. I never saw it on TV but got the DVD’s and loved it. So I hoped they would give him some good lines, but they didn’t get him up to his full potential. But it was entertaining, the best line is “Could you hand me some of that opossum over there, I sure am hungry” or there abouts.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Ok, I know I have to take away may gay card for this but I had never seen this all the way through. You know we all have those movies where you always see parts but never the whole way through. Well this was one of those for me. Everytime I wanted to watch it, something always came up, like Citizen Kane, which I haven’t seen all the way through. But I enjoyed it, it was one of those 60’s comedys. Which I do like, one of my favorites is “It’s a Mad Mad Mad world.” Was a good movie and one I am glad I got in my collection.

VIP

Ok now the fun begins, you say “but you just slammed spider man for lack of story and now you’re watching VIP?” Why yes I am, I loved this when it was on, I hope the other seasons come out as well. The reason I like this is not for the T&A, but the over the topness it had. Pamela Anderson made fun of herself and I love that about celebrities. So I have the entire first season! Its awesome, and I’m on disk 2 of 5 right now. It’s a good mindless entertainment. I’m sure I”ll hear about this one.

Yes, I bought it today, It’s on Thursday nights and I never got a chance to see it, against Survivor, and now that Ugly Betty and Survivor are on Thursdays, I’ll never see it. So I’ll have to get Season two as well.

Spider Man is Coming!

Ok, unless you’ve been under a rock lately, you know May 4th, Spiderman 3 opens in theaters. I know this because I’ve seen it so many times over the last six months. I bet you’re asking me if I am going to see it. The answer is NO. I will not go to the theater and see it. Only if I’m on a date with a hot guy will I see it and only then and there better be something promised after.

The marketing blitz for it has been intense. The first time I noticed it was for, of all things, the Itsy Bitsy Spider Man. Yes, that’s right, it’s a tickle me Elmo type of gadget where you see a Spider Man dancing the Itsy Bitsy Spider dance. This has only been the beginning. As you can see through the pics, they are pushing everything. I even noticed that they have a Spider Man Mr. Potato Head.

The story to me I’m over as well. Will Peter Parker marry MJ. And the battle between the Green Goblin’s Son and Peter, could it be any more tired. Then there’s the whole Sandman story that the commercials have yet to really go into. I didn’t much care for the last one, and the only reason I saw it was because I was house sitting last October and they had it. After watching it I was glad I didn’t spend money on it.

I know what you’re saying, that you already have a strike against this movie, that I do, but I also know it’s going to be huge. Probably the biggest movie of the year. But with that said I don’t have to go see it. I just want to know exactly how much is being spend on promoting this movie. It has to be in the 10’s of millions. Although, if it is huge I would love for it to knock Titanic out of the top grossing movie of all time. Another movie I don’t care for, but that’s another story.

This summer movie season is going to be big, more sequels and movies then in a long time but currently all you hear about is Spider Man. Where is the hype for Shrek III, Die Hard, Pirates of the Caribbean and the New Harry Potter movie. Well you are starting to see some about Shrek and Pirates, but I’ve seen not much of any other moving coming out this summer.

I guess my whole problem with Spider Man, is the plot sucks. The story is weak and just not a good escape. I think if you go to the movies you go for an escape, ot loose your self in what ever you are and forget about what’s bothering you. Well granted, I do like some bad movies. And I own up to that, I am hooked on 70’s disaster flicks. And most people are like OMG how can you watch that. But they didn’t have the marketing locomotion that Spider Man does.

The marketing for this picture has many cross over. I have already said the toys, and there will be more coming. But also toys are to be expected. Every big movies since Star Wars has had toys and fast food tie in’s, but I think some of the marketing has gone to an extreme. The prime example is Comcast Triple Play. Where you get cable, phone and internet for one low price. The commercial is a guy dressed like spider man, with out the mask, who’s house is total Spider Man. He interviews a potential roomie and when he asks what he brings to the apt, he says the Triple Play and he’s in.

As someone in marketing, I know you have to push and promote a film but can we get it something close to not just random stuff that companies are willing to pay for?

Speaking of movies which may not be good, I am watching Sean of the Dead, and many of you out there will be like how can you watch that and not like Spider Man, hmm got me! Go Figure.

Today oh Today!

Today was a wired day. And can I say I’m over the gout in my hand. I have had it for two almost there weeks and I wake up in the morning and it’s not there, and by the time I go to bed it drives me nuts again. It’s right at the pinky finger and my thumb.

I mean I got up this morning and I was fine, now, as the day went on it got worse and worse. I didn’t eat anything out of the ordinary, and I cooked spaghetti tonight. Oh wait, I need to check the frozen meatballs I used, to make sure they didn’t have beans in them, but it was hurting before that. HMMMM

Don’t you just love the stream of consciousness posts I do? They are something, is the only thing I can say.

Update on What’s Going on

There is a lot going on right now, some I’m not going to put on the blog. But I can guarantee you that its going to be a lot to post at once. I am actually working on a podcast, believe it or not and this weekend I will record a new one.

I haven’t had a date Warning Level in a while: The date warning level is : LOW

Heck I haven’t even had time to even look for a date. I’m beginning to wonder about that. But oh well. I guess it would help to leave the house LOL and get off this computer. Softball season is starting and this year I’m not playing. I just have a lot going on and no money to do it. I want to have fun doing it and with everything going on I wouldn’t have the time to practice or anything so I gave it up.

Work is a going well and busy as ever. I wish I had a job that paid 20K more a year and worked less, but heck who doesn’t.

Another area that is taking up time lately is the Undiesdrawers blog. Which I’m so glad I joined them, they are a great group of guys. I have started posting and it’s a huge site. There is a lot planned, some I won’t go into now but go over and check it out daily. If you have any feedback let us know.

I know this is a rambling post but I wanted to just post something more personal. Lately I have been just putting up pics, YouTube videos, and such but nothing about what’s going on with me. I will change that very soon.

Today I’m in search of a printer. I think I have narrowed it down, to the Brother Laser printer. I never knew how much you needed a printer till I didn’t have one. Then hopefully lunch with a friend, dinner with another friends and maybe some hot tubbin’ tonight! WHOO HOOO!

Part-time Opportunities

Ok, I’m throwing this out there on the blog. I’m looking for a part time job, I know this it no a glamorous post but hey why not. I’d love to find a weekend office job but I’m up for retail as well. What I Got!

If you read my blog last week, I put in what I want. A Pair of Bamboo Briefs from C-IN2. Last night I got some. There is a store in Atlanta, the Boy Next Door. It has tons of speedos and swim gear and also some great selection of undies; C-IN2, Jocko, N2N, Ginch Gonch, Artificial Favor and the like.

But Boy Next Door had them in stock and I told the guy who works there, that I have known for years, that I was looking all over for these and was glad they had them. I got the Racer brief in black. I almost got the jock too but at $19.50 a pair, I just got the one, just in case I didn’t like it.

Let me back up a bit, I was supposed to go shopping with a buddy but I never heard from him, and last night I saw a play at the Alliance Theater here, and instead of shopping I went over to my friends house. I left the house purposefully going commando. I went and got the Bamboo Briefs, and drove to my friends house. When I got there I put the undies in my pocket and went in and put them on.

Ok, at first I was like this is what everyone is so crazy about. I was not impressed with them at first. Now when I put on Unico for the first time it was like , “OMG, where have these undies been all my life.” But I was going ot give the briefs a chance. As the night went on I felt the differnce. The pouch in these are amazing. Yes they do just like the claims say, they put your stuff on display. But the support you get is great, The longer I wore them, the better they felt. If you’re big into undies like me, you’re well aware of undies that start off great and through out the day, they let you down, literally and figuratively. These really kept the support and just feel great. I do now want to get the jock.

BREAKING NEWS

This was a slow news day today. At work there are two sites I read a lot when I have downtime. They are Yahoo News and New York Post. I love them both. But I was needing a mental break at work and pulled up NY Post and look what I saw. No it’s not the Duke Liar story, look below that “ALERT: Police at Atlanta Airport Uncover Rash of Public Sex Acts”

Ok I’m not one for public sex but the headline makes it seem like there is an orgy going on in the bathrooms at Hartsfield Airport. I mean a full scale alert, wow it has to be really bad.

The basics of the story is that the police at the airport was staking out the bathrooms to nab people stealing bags, but what did they find? Guys blowing each other. They even busted the head of public transportation authority here in it. But, I bet you think the guys just met up, had that eye contact, tapped feet, sang a song, what ever they do these days for that, but no! They, through the wonderment of modern technology, were and are using the wireless internet to post to Craig’s List, they were going to be in the airport at a certain concourse and were looking for fun.

OK my question is, that if you’re having sexy in a airport bathroom, wouldn’t someone notice? I mean it’s not like it’s a deserted bathroom. I’m not big on public sex where you can get busted. 30 People have been arrested in the cases. So if you’re going to the bathroom at Hartsfield, go use the bathroom and leave and unless you want a public indecency, lewd conduct and prob, be named as a sex offender for the rest of your life, might I suggest the Hilton or Marriott, the 100 bucks you’ll spend on a room will be a lot less then the bail, lawyers fees and public embarrassment. Just a thought!

But this is not some rash of public sex going on. I have heard stories about bathrooms in all major airports. I guess it’s the whole thrill and stranger you meet. But I’ll keep you posted if more ALERTS are issued!

Its a Girl again!

The above pic is from the NY Post. Its about time we found out who Anna's baby daddy is. I made the comment just the other day that if this was done on the Maury Povich show we would have known a few months ago. And Maury would have paid for it. But part of the drama and sideshow media coverage is over. But I'm sure there is more to the Anna story we don't know.

The Devil Wears Something

I just got done watching the Devil Wears Prada for the who knows how many times. I really like this movie, except for one thing. I didn’t like the ending. And I know before I start this many of you will disagree with me, but I didn’t’ like how Annie walked out at the end. I thought it would have been better if she had stayed and done the job and took over for Miranda.

The way I see it is that she was catching on and became a great asset to Miranda. Miranda trusted her and saw a lot of herself in Annie. But to me it made it almost seem like Annie was saying she was better then Miranda. Well I’m a sap for the happy ending movies. I guess I am because as the old saying goes “Life isn’t fair.” So when I go to a movie I want to escape. And I want to be happy and see a “fell good” movie. That’s why I like a lot of the 80s movies: Secret of My Success, Maid to Order, Pretty in Pink (not sure it’s a happy ending per se), Sixteen Candles and such.

But this is my two cents worth. But I’m lazy this week I have the same movies in my DVD player. I have a 5 DVD changer, gotta love technology. I have Casino Royal, Poseidon Adventure (the new one, I love both), Devil Wears Prada, X-Men 3 and the Sum of All Fears.

I think I’m going to watch the first season of VIP, yeah you heard me, the Pamela Anderson syndicated show. I loved it! I also have three more seasons of Pretender to go though. But I started to watch it and after a season and a half, there is only so much good you can take. A happy ending on a movie is one thing but every week, that’s another. That was too much good for even me.
