TV shows in the Daytime

Ok, being stuck at home sucks during the day, if not for the problems with the calf muscles, then for daytime TV. I think daytime TV is for the is far worse then my reality show crack. Being unemployed, I have watched two of the gayest channels around. Lifetime and Oxygen. I watch, when I get up in time, Designing Women, Golden Girls, The Nanny, Will & Grace, Grace Under Fire and Roseanne. Well let’s get started from the top.

Designing Women

I really like this show and always have. I remember when it used to be on Monday nights on CBS. That was a not miss night of TV. But I Lifetime hasn’t played this much. They only play it in the morning for one show. Rather then for an hour and then in the afternoon. Currently the last season is on and it’s the one season I never really liked. It was just a little too over the top for me. I even like the season with Julia Duffy. Looking back on it now, there was so much riding on it and you had so much expectations on the show you were let down. But watching them again years later they are pretty funny and they should have kept her on there. But hind sight is 20/20. I really enjoy watching and supposedly this year the show is out on DVD for season one. But we’ll see. I wish they would run this more but I guess they’ve run it so much that they are giving it a rest. But this gets *****

Golden Girls

Well, what can you say about this show. It’s a classic and I’m glad the DVDs are out, but I only have the first season on DVD. I want the rest. I didn’t remember that there were 7 seasons. I thought there were just 5. I so am Sophia on Golden Girls. I always have stories that I begin with a point then forget what I was trying to prove. I should start all my stories as “Picture it, Atlanta, 1996…” I just think this is a good show that no matter how many times you see it, it just makes you laugh and just enjoy watching it. This originally aired on Saturday nights on NBC, and I remember in HS that I would stay home and watch it. Yeah I know how gay is that. But the Golden Palace on the other hand, OMG were Cheech Marin and Don Cheadle really that desperate for a job. That’s a whole other posting. But Golden Girls is another *****

The Nanny

Well, OMG where should I begin? You know I really liked this show when it was on the air, but looking back now, OMG what crack was I on in the 90s? It’s really bad now. The plots are very much recycled I Love Lucy and everything has been done before. I also hate those sexual tension shows. Where they have this attraction but never act on it. Then finally they do and the show always goes down hill. Remember Ross and Rachel on Friends, I think it was much better after they got rid of the relationship, but wasn’t happy they put them back together at the end. It reminds me of Three’s Company, which is another show I loved in the 70’s and now OMG shoot me if I have to watch it. I watch this show because I haven’t put any DVDs in my player. LOL, but here’s my rating for the Nanny **

Will & Grace

Ok, this is a show I’m supposed to watch, but you know after the second season I never really watched it, I got hooked on CSI. Which I love, I guess I should have taped it and watched it. But George Eds on CSI YUMMY. Ok I really like Karen best of all. I have some new lines from her, my current favorite is “I have a fake laugh that has your name written all over it” I don’t know who does the writing but its awesome. Some shows are better then others but over all it’s a good show. It’s pretty good show too, It’s as real to life as a sit com could get. Yeah there are some stereotypes but It makes me laugh and I keep thinking of how many people I know that are like Jack. I think that Karen should be the one to get a spin off if there is one. I think that is the only one that would work. Unlike Joey, that show sucked, I think they should have given the spin off to Phoebe rather then Joey. My Rating for Will & Grace ****

Grace Under Fire

Grace is prob the middle of the road for me. In the beginning it was pretty funny but as the years went on, it kinda went down hill. But it never really got the Nanny bad. But it has its moments. I think the best was Dave Thomas as Russell the pharmacist. He had the best moments on the show. Then when they brought in Tom Poston as Russell’s father that added to it. They had really great chemistry together. One thing I don’t remember is her best friend leaving her husband and leaving the show, I think for the last season. Its not a bad way to pass some time. This also is on Oxygen network, for their totally assertive female daytime line up. But you gotta wonder what happened to Brett Butler, where did she go, is she one of those who’s careers just fell off and never came back, are we going to find her on a where are they now special? But my rating for Grace Under Fire is ***

Rosanne

Ok, now this has to be one of my favorite shows around. I forgot how good this show was. I mean the reruns has made me laugh and I haven’t seen a lot of them because of work or school. But this show really stands up the test of time. Even over ten years later the show still is funny and just good. I guess the reason I love Roseanne so much is that it so reminds me of my family. Roseanne reminds me of my mom to some degree. Hell it reminds me of my family. With the mother and sister and the whole nine yards. I guess what they say is true, the more you can relate to something on TV the more you’ll like it. I’m glad they have come out with the first two seasons on DVD, and the third is due out in March I think. The first season got a lot of flack because they used the syndication shows rather then the shows they ran on network tv. The shows in syndication are cute 2 minutes shorter and I read some really scathing reviews on amazon.com for using that one. I personally don’t think Roseanne was responsible for this that it is something that just happened. Btw, have you seen Roseanne lately? She does a PSA on nick at night and she has blond hair and I think she looks terrific. I hope she does something soon, I know the “Real Roseanne Show” wasn’t that good but it was a good concept. I just love Roseanne so much, I’ll probably burn out on it soon, watching it on Oxygen and Nick at night, but till then I’m laughing all the way to sleep! My Rating for Roseanne is *****

Well this is my review of daytime TV. I can’t watch anything else right now, talk shows and such would def make me go insane faster then watching infomercials.
